Between Legend and history. The Calypso Cave the one told in the famous Odyssey of Homer. It seems to be the famous Calypso cave located in the northern area of the small Maltese island, Gozo.
The cave itself has nothing suggestive, but to make this site talk is certainly the mystery, the charm that links it to the Homeric Poem and its breathtaking panorama that it offers today to its visitors, since it overlooks one of the most beautiful beaches of Gozo. The famous Red Beach of Ramla (l-Ħamra) so defined thanks to the color of its red sand. On the beach, under the Calypso cave you can admire the remains of an old 18th century fortification realized by I Cavalieri di Malta, almost certainly to ensure greater defense in the event of attacks by opponents.
